SAN ANTONIO – A man was arrested this week, months after he allegedly pistol-whipped a store clerk in an armed robbery, according to online jail records.

Dantavea Roshun Mitchell, 32, was arrested Tuesday by the San Antonio Police Department, records show, and is charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony. This serious charge indicates that the crime involved a deadly weapon and posed a significant threat to the victim.

The incident took place early in the morning on February 15 at a 24-hour dispensary located in the 3800 block of Pleasanton Road. According to an affidavit from the police, Mitchell approached the store and attacked the clerk as she opened the door.

Mitchell allegedly threw the clerk to the ground and struck her in the head with a handgun. This violent act caused the gun to accidentally discharge, firing a round into the floor right next to the clerk’s head, though fortunately, she was not hit.

While Mitchell was holding the clerk at gunpoint, a second suspect entered the store and stole money and merchandise. After the robbery, both suspects fled the scene in a vehicle that was waiting nearby, where a third suspect was also present.

The investigation by the San Antonio Police Department included creating a photo lineup that utilized Mitchell’s out-of-state driver’s license. This helped the victim positively identify him the following week, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant.

This case highlights the serious consequences of armed robbery and the importance of swift police action in bringing suspects to justice. The authorities are committed to ensuring the safety of businesses and their customers in the community.
