OKLAHOMA CITY – On a Sunday night, a party near Arcadia Lake turned chaotic when a shooting occurred, sending at least 12 individuals to hospitals. This alarming incident has raised serious concerns within the community.

According to Emily Ward, a spokesperson for the Edmond police, reports of gunfire started coming in around 9 p.m. The police are actively investigating the situation, but as of late Sunday, no arrests had been made.

“This is obviously a very terrifying situation, and we understand the concern from the public and those involved,” Ward stated. “We are working extremely hard to find the suspects.”

The police have been canvassing the area, speaking with victims and witnesses to gather information about the shooting. Initial reports indicate that 10 people were transported to hospitals, while others managed to drive themselves for medical attention. The conditions of the victims vary, and they are being assessed at local hospitals.

At Integris Health Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, nine individuals are being treated, while three others are at Integris Health Edmond Hospital. Hospital officials confirmed that all patients were still being evaluated late Sunday night.

Although details about the party remain limited, a flyer circulating on social media hinted at a gathering named “Sunday Funday” that was set to take place near the lake that evening.

Arcadia Lake is located approximately 13 miles north of Oklahoma City and is known for its recreational opportunities, including fishing, boating, picnicking, and camping. It is situated in Edmond, a suburb of Oklahoma City with a population of around 100,000 residents.

This incident is particularly poignant for Edmond, as it was the site of one of the most tragic workplace shootings in U.S. history. On August 20, 1986, postal worker Patrick Sherrill opened fire, killing 14 of his co-workers before taking his own life.

As the investigation continues, the community is left grappling with the aftermath of this violent event. Local authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to aid in their efforts to locate those responsible.
