SAN ANTONIO – Exciting news for fishing enthusiasts in San Antonio! The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) is set to stock two local lakes with catfish this Friday. This initiative is part of the “Neighborhood Fishin’” program, designed to make fishing accessible and fun for families right in their neighborhoods.

Where to Fish

The lakes getting the catfish boost are Southside Lions Park, located at 3100 Hiawatha Street, and Millers Pond at 6075 Old Pearsall Road. These spots are perfect for a weekend outing with family or friends, bringing the joy of fishing closer to home.

When to Fish

The catfish will be stocked in both lakes through the end of October, with a short break in August. This gives anglers plenty of opportunities to catch some fish during the fall season.

Licensing Information

Before you head out, keep in mind that a fishing license is required for anyone aged 17 and older. For those under 17, no license is needed, making it a great chance for teens to learn and enjoy the sport without the hassle of paperwork.

More Fishing Opportunities

If you’re looking for more places to fish, you’re in luck! Additional lakes stocked with catfish can be found in various Texas cities, including Austin, Houston, and Dallas-Fort Worth. Each location offers unique fishing experiences, so don’t hesitate to explore!

Fishing is not just a fun way to spend time; it’s also a great way to connect with nature and enjoy the outdoors. So grab your gear, gather some friends or family, and get ready for an exciting fishing adventure in San Antonio!
