SAN ANTONIO – Fiesta season is here, and with it comes the lively Battle of Flowers and Fiesta Flambeau parades! If you’re planning to catch the action, you have two main options: camping out for free or purchasing reserved seats. Each choice has its pros and cons, and locals have plenty to say about both.

Many families opt for the comfort of reserved seating, especially if they have kids in tow. One local mom expressed her thoughts, saying, “I would pay only because you know, because of multiple kids. I feel like camping out would be too much.” This sentiment resonates with those who prefer to avoid the hassle of finding a good spot on the day of the event.

On the flip side, other San Antonians enjoy the tradition of finding their own viewing spots. “You don’t pay for your tickets, you just find a spot on your own,” said another local. “Yeah, I never. I think it should always be free.” This DIY approach adds an element of adventure to the festivities.

Seeing all the reserved sections already set up can sometimes sway opinions. “You see the chairs there, and you’re like dang I wish I would’ve sat here,” one attendee mentioned. It’s clear that the reserved spots can seem tempting once you see how organized they are.

For those considering purchasing seats, the Fiesta San Antonio website offers an interactive map to help you choose your location. Green dots indicate available street seats, making it easy to select your preferred section. You can also choose which nonprofit you want to support with your purchase, adding a charitable twist to your parade experience.

Street seats average around $28, while bleacher seats—which tend to sell out quickly—are priced between $33 and $43, depending on their location along the parade route. Many paradegoers believe that the energy and excitement increase as you get closer to the end of the parade, justifying the higher prices for those seats.

If you decide to camp out for a free spot, keep in mind that you cannot set up in the street until the roads are officially closed. Additionally, sitting on private property without permission is a no-go. So, if you want to secure a good viewing position, arriving early is crucial.

No matter how you choose to enjoy the parades, the vibrant atmosphere of Fiesta will undoubtedly create an unforgettable experience. Whether you’re sitting back in your reserved chair or cheering from the street, the spirit of San Antonio is alive and well!
