RIO DE JANEIRO – Grammy-winning singer Chappell Roan recently found herself at the center of a social media storm after Brazilian-Italian soccer star Jorginho accused a security guard of mistreating his stepdaughter. This incident occurred while Roan was in Brazil for the popular Lollapalooza music festival.

Jorginho, who plays for Flamengo, shared on Instagram that the controversy unfolded at a Sao Paulo hotel where his family was staying. He recounted how his 11-year-old daughter recognized Roan during breakfast and became excited, wanting to confirm it was indeed the singer.

“She didn’t say anything, didn’t ask for anything,” Jorginho explained, but soon after, a security guard approached their table and spoke aggressively to both his wife and daughter. This left the family feeling distressed.

Following the accusations, Roan addressed the situation on her own Instagram account. She clarified that the security guard involved was not part of her personal team and stated that she hadn’t even seen the woman and child. Roan expressed her disappointment over the incident, emphasizing that it’s unfair for security personnel to assume that fans might have bad intentions.

“I do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children,” she stressed, reinforcing her love for her audience.

The situation caught the attention of Rio’s new mayor, Eduardo Cavaliere, who made a controversial remark regarding Roan’s future performances in the city. He stated that she would not perform on Copacabana Beach, unlike other major artists like Madonna and Lady Gaga. Cavaliere also mentioned that Jorginho’s daughter would be honored at an upcoming concert by Shakira.

Chappell Roan, known for her vibrant personality and contributions to drag culture, has gained significant popularity with her hit songs from her album “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.” She won the Grammy for Best New Artist earlier this year, beating out other notable contenders.

In a lighter turn of events, Jorginho later shared a story of his daughter’s excitement at attending Sabrina Carpenter’s performance at Lollapalooza, putting the earlier incident behind them. “Everything is well with the girls, and thanks for the messages,” he concluded on his social media.
