BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – In a concerning incident that highlights issues of child safety and criminal behavior, two women were arrested on Thursday after allegedly leaving four children unattended while they committed theft at a residence in west Bexar County.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) reported that 23-year-old Nataly Nichole Perez and 40-year-old Amber Nichole Robisheaux face theft charges. In addition to this, Perez has been charged with four counts of child endangerment, indicating the serious nature of her alleged actions.
According to official records, deputies received a theft call around 2:30 p.m. at a home in west Bexar County. Upon investigation, they discovered that Perez was meant to be babysitting the four children present. The sheriff’s office stated that the two women “intentionally left the four children completely unattended inside the residence for approximately 4 hours.” During this time, they allegedly stole multiple items before fleeing the scene.
Both women were subsequently arrested and booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center. Notably, only Perez faced charges related to child endangerment, emphasizing the legal ramifications of leaving minors without supervision.
This incident raises significant concerns regarding child safety and the responsibilities of adults entrusted with their care. Child endangerment laws are designed to protect minors from harm, and the actions of Perez and Robisheaux have sparked discussions about the importance of vigilance in childcare settings.
Local authorities continue to stress the importance of responsible supervision, particularly in situations where children are involved. The BCSO encourages community members to report any suspicious behavior that could jeopardize the safety of minors.
