Karnes County man arrested, accused of assaulting spouse, sheriff’s office says

KARNES CITY, Texas – Recently, a serious incident of domestic violence came to light in Karnes City, Texas, involving a man named Terrance Benton, who was arrested for allegedly tying up and assaulting his common-law spouse over several days.

The Karnes County Sheriff’s Office began its investigation on March 11, after receiving reports of a family violence incident occurring at a home on North Bond Street. This case highlights the alarming reality of domestic abuse, which affects many individuals and families across the country.

According to investigators, Benton restrained his spouse and subjected her to physical violence, resulting in serious injuries. Fortunately, she managed to escape and report the abuse to the authorities, demonstrating the importance of speaking out against such acts of violence.

On March 13, law enforcement apprehended Benton and charged him with multiple offenses, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful restraint, and assault/impeding breath or circulation. These charges reflect the severity of his actions and the legal consequences that can follow incidents of domestic violence.

Additionally, while investigating, authorities executed a search warrant at Benton’s residence, where they discovered a significant amount of suspected narcotics. This finding could lead to further legal implications for Benton, as the sheriff’s office anticipates additional criminal charges.
