FIRST TRIPLE DIGITS OF THE YEAR FOR SA?

After managing to dodge extreme heat for most of 2023, the forecast suggests that a heat wave may push temperatures up to 100°F by Wednesday. The heat indices could make it feel even hotter, reaching into the low 100s. Staying hydrated and taking precautions is essential as we head into this heat wave.

TROPICAL DEPRESSION #2
In the Gulf, a tropical system has emerged, currently identified as Tropical Depression #2. This system is expected to strengthen and could potentially be named Bertha. While there’s still some uncertainty regarding its path, it is likely to impact the New Orleans area as it moves through the region. Models suggest that it may weaken as it encounters unfavorable conditions such as wind shear and dry air before potentially reaching South Texas later in the week. If it arrives in Texas, it might be considerably weaker, minimizing impacts on San Antonio and nearby areas. However, with tropical systems, changes can happen rapidly, so it’s crucial to stay updated.

AQUIFER/LAKES STILL RISING!
Despite some stabilization in our water bodies, recent observations indicate that local lakes and the aquifer are still experiencing slight increases in levels. Canyon Lake has reached an impressive 99% full capacity, while Medina Lake is now at 27%. Notably, the Edwards Aquifer at the J-17 well has surpassed 650 feet for the first time in over four years! This is a positive sign for the region, as it suggests improved water availability.
