With slightly elevated humidity levels today, the heat index might even exceed 105°F for a few hours. Due to these extreme conditions, heat advisories are currently in effect.

Looking ahead to Saturday, we might experience the hottest day yet, with temperatures forecasted to reach around 103°F. Fortunately, the humidity should decrease in the afternoon, allowing the heat index to remain manageable. This is important for outdoor events, especially as many local schools are planning football scrimmages. Remember to prioritize heat safety during these activities!

There is a very small chance of rain on Saturday afternoon, around 10%. A weak front could trigger a storm or two, particularly north of San Antonio. However, don’t count on significant rainfall—just a pop-up downpour here and there.

It’s important to note that the drought is making a comeback. Recent data from the drought monitor indicates that the gains we made in July are being negated by this hot and dry weather pattern. Currently, moderate drought conditions have returned to much of our area.
