SAN ANTONIO – If you’re looking for a fun way to spend your evenings this summer, the Mission Marquee Plaza has got you covered! Starting Saturday, May 2, this outdoor movie theater is offering free admission to watch an exciting lineup of nearly two dozen modern and classic films.

Located at 3100 Roosevelt Avenue, near Southeast Military Drive, the Mission Marquee Plaza has been a beloved destination for movie lovers on the South Side for over 50 years. It was originally a drive-in theater, and while it has transformed, the spirit of outdoor movie watching is still alive and well.

This year, the theater has announced its outdoor film series for 2026, which features 21 movies scheduled over a span of six months. Mark your calendars for the first and third Saturday of each month, where you can enjoy family-friendly films from Disney and DC, as well as timeless classics like *Selena* and *La Bamba*.

While it may no longer be a drive-in, Mission Marquee Plaza still offers a wide open lawn where you can bring your own chairs and blankets to enjoy the film under the stars. It’s a perfect spot for a cozy movie night with friends or family!

Best of all, admission is free! There’s also on-site parking, and your furry friends are welcome to join the fun. You won’t have to sneak in snacks either—outside food and drinks are allowed for picnics. If you prefer, there will be food trucks on-site offering tasty treats and beverages for purchase.

The venue opens at 7 p.m. from May through September, and at 6 p.m. from October through November, with screenings starting about 15 minutes after dusk. So grab your friends, pack a picnic, and get ready for a summer of movies at Mission Marquee Plaza!
