NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – Ballet Texas is taking a Halloween classic underground this fall with a one-night-only performance at Natural Bridge Caverns.
The performance of “Dracula” is scheduled for Oct. 3 and will kick off Natural Bridge Caverns’ annual Cavern Bat Fest, according to a news release.
This unique production merges classical ballet with dark fantasy and theatrical effects in a captivating neoclassical style. The story dives into the eerie world of Count Dracula, showcasing his Transylvanian castle and the grip he has on his victims. Themes of desire, danger, and redemption are central to this haunting tale.
“Dracula is the perfect fusion of gothic drama and classical technique,” says Ballet Texas Artistic Director Farrah Olson. “It challenges our dancers emotionally and physically — and fully captivates the audience.”
Brad Wuest, president of Natural Bridge Caverns, emphasizes the importance of providing visitors with unique experiences. “The combination of Ballet Texas, this extraordinary production, and the natural setting of the Hidden Wonders Ballroom should make this a completely different way to experience a Halloween classic,” he remarked.
The show is set to begin at 7 p.m., with seating limited to just 220 guests. This intimate setting promises an engaging experience for all attendees.
Tickets are available in two tiers: 20 VIP seats priced at $89.99, which include reserved seating, a cast meet-and-greet, and a wine reception with charcuterie. General admission tickets are available for $64.99.
This performance will kick off Cavern Bat Fest, which runs every weekend throughout October. This festival celebrates bats, one of the Hill Country’s most fascinating creatures, featuring live music, games, and trick-or-treat activities during the final weekend.
Ballet Texas is a professional nonprofit ballet company based in New Braunfels. Natural Bridge Caverns, discovered in 1960, is the largest cavern in Texas and offers a variety of attractions, including cave tours, a ropes course, zip rails, an outdoor maze, and gem panning.
