SACRAMENTO, Calif. – In a thrilling NBA Cup matchup, Victor Wembanyama showcased his immense talent, scoring 30 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, leading the San Antonio Spurs to a decisive 124-109 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Friday night.

Wembanyama, who recently made headlines with a jaw-dropping 52-point, 24-rebound performance against the Dallas Mavericks, recorded his seventh double-double of the season. This achievement places him in a tie for third in the NBA alongside Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis, who contributed significantly to his team’s efforts with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

The Spurs displayed a potent offense, with three additional players stepping up to support Wembanyama. Stephon Castle, Devin Vassell, and Dylan Harper each added 19 points, while Harrison Barnes chipped in with 13 points, helping the Spurs improve their record to 7-2.

San Antonio’s offensive onslaught was evident in their first-half performance, scoring 75 points, marking their second-highest scoring half of the season, just behind their 80-point display against the Kings on October 27. The team led by as many as 19 points at halftime and extended their lead to 24 points midway through the fourth quarter.

Wembanyama was pivotal in this game, scoring 12 consecutive points early in the second quarter, which helped the Spurs pull away from the Kings. Additionally, San Antonio capitalized on their trips to the free-throw line, converting 33 of 42 attempts, compared to Sacramento’s 13-for-19 performance.

On the other side, rookie Darius Acuff Jr. stood out for the Kings, leading his team with 22 points and eight assists. However, Sacramento’s struggles continue, as they fell to 1-8 overall, marking their fourth consecutive home loss.

Both the Spurs and Kings are competing in the West Group C for the NBA Cup, alongside teams like the Portland Trail Blazers, Golden State Warriors, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Upcoming Games

The Spurs will look to build on their success as they face the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Kings will aim to turn their fortunes around when they host the Miami Heat on Sunday.
