PHILADELPHIA – In a concerning incident over the weekend, police are actively searching for suspects related to a break-in at the residence of Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley.

The Tredyffrin Township police, located approximately 20 miles (32 kilometers) northwest of Philadelphia, responded early Saturday morning to reports of a burglary in progress at Barkley’s home. Upon their arrival, however, they found that the suspects had already fled the scene.

Fortunately, police confirmed that Barkley and his family were unharmed during the incident. Authorities have since released a photograph of a white SUV, which they believe may be connected to the break-in.

As of now, police have indicated that there were no other reported break-ins in the vicinity, leading them to investigate the possibility that Barkley’s home was specifically targeted. The Chester County District Attorney’s office is assisting in the ongoing investigation.

In a public outreach effort, officials have asked residents to review any home security camera footage for suspicious activity from early Saturday morning. “We are asking the public to help us identify those responsible,” stated the district attorney’s office.

As of Monday, both the police and the district attorney’s office had not responded to inquiries seeking further comment. Additionally, attempts to reach representatives of the Eagles and Barkley for remarks were also unsuccessful.

This incident raises concerns about the safety of high-profile athletes. In a related context, earlier this year, Argentine authorities arrested two Chilean suspects believed to be part of a transnational gang that targeted the homes of prominent athletes, including NBA and NFL stars such as Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

The crime ring was known for orchestrating burglaries at the residences of various athletes, which included notable personalities from both the U.S. and Argentina. Following these alarming events, the NFL issued security alerts to teams and the players’ union to heighten awareness and safety measures.

On the field, Barkley experienced a notable yet challenging season in 2024, rushing for a combined 2,504 yards throughout the regular season and playoffs. Despite his team’s struggles, he managed to accumulate 1,140 rushing yards and scored nine total touchdowns, showcasing his resilience and talent as a key player for the Eagles.
