SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Spurs have made a significant move in the NBA’s free agency period, confirming the addition of forward Tobias Harris on a two-year contract worth $31 million. This signing marks the Spurs’ first new acquisition as they look to bolster their roster for the upcoming season, according to multiple sources, including ESPN’s Shams Charania.
Tobias Harris, who will celebrate his 34th birthday later this month, brings a wealth of experience to the Spurs. Over the past two seasons, he has been a key player for the Detroit Pistons, starting in 136 regular-season games. In the 2025-26 season, Harris averaged 13.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and demonstrated his shooting prowess by hitting 36.8% from beyond the arc.
Harris’s performance in the playoffs has also been noteworthy. During the 2026 NBA Playoffs, he stepped up his game, averaging 18.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.5 steals across 14 postseason contests. His contributions were crucial in the first round when the top-seeded Pistons staged a dramatic comeback against the Orlando Magic, winning the series in seven games. However, the Pistons faced a tough challenge in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, where they were eventually eliminated by their Central Division rivals, the Cleveland Cavaliers, also in seven games.
In addition to Harris’s signing, the Spurs recently re-signed forwards Julian Champagnie and Harrison Barnes, both of whom played pivotal roles in helping the team return to the NBA Finals last month. These moves indicate the Spurs’ commitment to building a competitive team as they aim for further success in the upcoming season.
