A tragic shooting incident unfolded on Friday, resulting in the deaths of a teenage boy and four adults. The events took place in Missaukee County, Michigan, about 170 miles northwest of Detroit, prompting a massive search for the suspect, who was later found deceased alongside one of the victims.

The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Chad Hickman, was discovered dead in a wooded area after fleeing the initial crime scene. A teenage girl survived the attack and is currently in stable condition, according to police reports.

Authorities confirmed that Hickman fled the scene where police found the bodies of several victims, including a 16-year-old boy, a 45-year-old man, and a 40-year-old woman. A 13-year-old girl was also found critically injured. All victims died from gunshot wounds.

The investigation revealed that Hickman had a prior conviction for misdemeanor fourth-degree child abuse, which resulted in a one-year jail sentence. Despite this conviction, the circumstances surrounding the recent shootings remain unclear, particularly regarding the relationships between the victims and the suspect.

Witnesses in the area reported hearing gunshots but initially dismissed them due to the rural setting where gunfire can often be heard. One neighbor noted that Hickman had a history of troubling behavior, including harassment.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer expressed her condolences, stating that she was monitoring the situation closely and extending her thoughts to the victims and their families.

This heartbreaking incident has left the community in shock, and police continue to investigate the details surrounding the case. As of now, the investigation is ongoing, and authorities are seeking to provide answers for the grieving families and friends affected by this tragedy.
