UVALDE, Texas – A Walmart in Uvalde reopened to the public on Sunday evening following a serious incident involving a threatening phone call to local authorities. The Uvalde Police Department reported that the initial call was made by a male at approximately 1:45 p.m., providing dispatchers with details about his vehicle, clothing, and weapons.

Just six minutes after the first call, a second communication came in indicating that the caller was only one minute away from the store, raising immediate concerns about a possible threat to public safety.

In response to the threat, a coordinated effort involving multiple local, state, and federal agencies was initiated. The investigation team quickly traced the phone call back to a landline registered at a California address, indicating a potential hoax or serious miscommunication.

Authorities worked diligently to ensure the safety of the public and by 2:55 p.m., the scene was cleared. The Walmart store was officially reopened by 4 p.m., allowing customers to return to shopping amidst heightened security measures.

The Uvalde Police Department continues to investigate the incident and is collaborating with state and federal partners to identify the individual responsible for the threat. This event underscores the ongoing concerns regarding safety in public spaces and the critical role of law enforcement in responding to potential threats.
