NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – A suspect has been arrested following a shooting that left three individuals injured in downtown New Braunfels, as detailed in an official press release from the city.
The incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. on a Sunday morning when local law enforcement received multiple reports of gunfire in the 100 block of North Seguin Avenue. Police quickly responded to the scene to investigate the situation.
According to the release, a 25-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man, both residents of New Braunfels, were transported to a hospital in Kyle for medical treatment. Additionally, a 27-year-old man, also from New Braunfels, was taken to a hospital in San Antonio. All three victims are reported to be in “stable condition.”
Preliminary investigations by the New Braunfels police suggest that the two men may have been involved in a physical altercation with the suspect prior to the shooting incident. The suspect, identified as Josiah Anthony Arevalo, 25, allegedly pursued the two men in a vehicle and fired multiple shots from a handgun while driving away from the scene.
Authorities believe that the two men were the intended targets of the shooting, while the woman was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire. This kind of gun violence raises significant concerns about public safety and community well-being.
Officers later located Arevalo, who surrendered without incident when approached by law enforcement. He has since been taken to the Comal County Jail, where he faces three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The press release also indicates that Arevalo may face additional charges as the investigation continues.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are likely to gather more evidence and witness accounts to fully understand the circumstances surrounding this violent event. Community members are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
