SAN ANTONIO – A man was hospitalized after an altercation in a parking lot that escalated into an exchange of gunfire with a security guard, according to information provided by the San Antonio Police Department.
The incident occurred just after 9:30 p.m. on Monday in the 3300 block of Southeast Military Drive, near the intersection with Goliad Road. Officers responded swiftly to the scene following reports of gunfire.
According to police, security personnel began pursuing the man after a confrontation. During the chase, the man allegedly fired at the security guards, prompting one of the guards to return fire. The guard struck the man multiple times during the exchange.
After the shooting, the man fled the scene but was later located by authorities with multiple gunshot wounds behind a Gold’s Gym, situated near the same intersection. He was promptly taken to a nearby hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
Fortunately, no other injuries were reported as a result of this incident. Investigating officers discovered shell casings and a magazine at the scene, although the man’s weapon remains unaccounted for, according to police statements.
