SAN ANTONIO – Early Friday morning, a dramatic encounter unfolded in San Antonio when a police officer apprehended two suspects at gunpoint after they collided with a police vehicle. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. outside a hotel located on Jones Maltsberger Road, near Northern Boulevard, and close to Loop 410.

According to a lieutenant present at the scene, the officer was conducting a routine patrol in the hotel parking lot, responding to a series of recent car burglaries in the area. While surveying the lot, the officer identified a vehicle that matched the description of a suspect car involved in an earlier incident. This vehicle had two occupants inside, raising the officer’s suspicions.

Upon noticing the vehicle, the officer activated the emergency lights and exited the patrol car to approach the suspects. In a sudden turn of events, the suspect vehicle reversed and collided with the patrol car, prompting the officer to draw their weapon and hold the two individuals at gunpoint until additional units arrived to provide backup.

The rapid police response led to the successful detention of the two suspects without any reported injuries. This incident highlights the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces in combating vehicle-related crimes, particularly in areas experiencing a rise in such activities.
