SAN ANTONIO – Voters in the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) are set to make a significant decision in the upcoming election. They will have the opportunity to approve a tax increase along with three bond propositions that aim to enhance various educational programs and facilities within the district.

On Monday night, the SAISD Board of Trustees convened to discuss and subsequently voted to place these four measures on the ballot for November 3rd. Collectively, these propositions are projected to raise approximately $600 million, which would be allocated towards critical areas such as career programs, teacher recruitment, campus renovations, safety upgrades, and technology improvements.

The proposed measures include a tax increase that would affect the average homeowner’s monthly tax bill. If all four propositions are approved, homeowners could see an increase of approximately $1.99 per month this year. This would rise to an additional $1.26 by 2027, ultimately peaking at around $5.76 per month by 2030.

It’s important to note that qualified homeowners aged 65 and older would not experience any tax increase, provided they have a homestead exemption and an over-65 exemption application filed with the Bexar County Appraisal District.

As the election date approaches, the implications of these measures are expected to be a focal point of discussion among community members. The decisions made by voters will play a crucial role in shaping the educational landscape of San Antonio, ensuring that students have access to the resources and facilities necessary for their success.
