Manola’s Thai & Vietnamese Cuisine, located at 7212 Blanco, has recently reopened after a temporary closure mandated by health inspectors. On May 22, Metro Health confirmed that the restaurant was allowed to resume operations following an inspection that highlighted significant pest infestations.
The initial inspection took place on May 11, at which point inspectors found a concerning number of violations, with pest-related issues accounting for a third of the total. Among the alarming discoveries were both dead and live pests, including some found in a soup ladle and cooked rice, raising serious concerns about food safety and hygiene.
Owner Paula expressed her shock and surprise regarding the inspection results, stating, “I wasn’t here on that day; that is why the problem happened.” This emphasizes the challenges that restaurant owners face in maintaining consistent standards of cleanliness, particularly in high-traffic environments.
The closure disappointed many regular customers who were left craving their favorite dishes. “A lot of customers got upset that we closed down because they missed the food,” Paula shared, highlighting the emotional impact that such closures can have on both businesses and their patrons.
In response to the inspection findings, Paula has taken proactive measures to enhance kitchen safety. “I just hired a professional chef here,” she noted, acknowledging the difficulty in finding qualified staff during these times. This step underscores her commitment to improving the restaurant’s operations and ensuring customer safety, stating, “Our customer safety is our priority.”
