SAN ANTONIO – A Northside Independent School District (NISD) teacher, Chad Allen Rodriguez, has been arrested on charges of having an improper relationship with a 17-year-old student. The arrest, made on Saturday, stems from allegations detailed in a recently released arrest affidavit.

According to Bexar County jail records, Rodriguez has been employed with NISD since August 2016 and has been placed on immediate administrative leave following the allegations.

The investigation began on May 15 when authorities responded to reports from the campus located on Marbach Road. The affidavit details that on May 14, an unknown student spotted Rodriguez and the teenage girl alone in his classroom, which prompted a report to school staff.

During an interview, the 17-year-old disclosed that her relationship with Rodriguez began in October 2022, escalating from flirtation and eye contact to physical intimacy, including kissing and sexual intercourse, which allegedly occurred multiple times throughout the school year.

The affidavit also reveals that the two exchanged cell phone numbers and sent explicit photos to one another. Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators reportedly showed the student entering Rodriguez’s classroom alone and remaining there for approximately 10 minutes, with another student observed looking through the window during this time.

Rodriguez was arrested off-campus, and NISD has stated that both the district and the school are fully cooperating with law enforcement throughout the ongoing investigation. This incident raises significant concerns about student safety and the integrity of educator-student relationships.

As the investigation continues, it is crucial for educational institutions to reinforce policies that protect students and ensure a safe learning environment. The NISD community seeks to understand the implications of this case and the measures that will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
