WILSON COUNTY, Texas – A man has been sentenced to eight years in prison after he stabbed his brother in a violent altercation that took place in Wilson County, as reported by the 81st Judicial District Attorney.
Dagoberto Rivera-Martinez entered a no-contest plea to charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on October 5, 2024. The court has mandated that he serve a minimum of four years behind bars.
The incident occurred on August 11, 2024, when Rivera-Martinez reportedly visited his brother’s residence and attacked him with a knife while the victim was in bed. Fortunately, the injuries sustained by the victim were non-life-threatening, but the attack has raised concerns regarding domestic violence and family disputes.
In addition to the stabbing incident, it was revealed that Rivera-Martinez was in the United States illegally at the time of the attack. According to the district attorney, should he be deported after serving his sentence and subsequently return to the U.S. illegally, he could face additional federal charges.
