SAN ANTONIO – A man was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being stabbed multiple times by a family member early Friday morning, according to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).

Police officers responded to the scene shortly after 6:30 a.m. in the 5100 block of Grovehill Drive, located near Hemphill Drive, where they discovered two brothers in their 30s engaged in a violent altercation.

The details leading up to the incident remain unclear, but SAPD reports indicate that during the struggle, one brother stabbed the other multiple times in the back with a kitchen knife.

The victim sustained severe injuries and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Authorities have classified these injuries as life-threatening.

The brother accused of the stabbing has been detained and is reportedly cooperating with the ongoing investigation. He claims that he acted in self-defense during the incident, a statement that investigators will consider as they gather evidence.

Three family members who witnessed the event are also being questioned by police as part of the investigation, providing crucial context and details about the altercation.

SAPD has recovered a weapon from the scene; however, it remains unclear whether this was the knife used in the stabbing. The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
