BEXAR COUNTY – A tragic incident has unfolded in north Bexar County, where the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the drowning death of a 2-year-old boy, Malachi LeBlanc. The young child passed away four days following the incident that occurred on August 5, with the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office ruling his death as accidental.

In a statement released by the sheriff’s office, it was revealed that investigators have filed a criminal case concerning the incident. This case will be forwarded to the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office for further review and potential action.

At this stage, the specific details regarding who is being charged and the nature of the charges remain unclear. The sheriff’s office spokesperson emphasized that the determination of whether to proceed with charges will rest with the district attorney’s office, who will examine the official documentation upon receipt.

This situation raises significant concerns about safety around swimming pools, especially for young children. According to the CDC, drowning is a leading cause of injury-related death for children aged 1 to 4 years old. It highlights the absolute necessity for constant supervision when children are in or near water.
