SAN ANTONIO – A recent shooting incident involving an immigration enforcement officer in Austin has sparked renewed discussions about federal immigration enforcement and the frequency with which officers interact with individuals across the United States, particularly in Texas.
According to our analysis, there have been a total of 11 shootings involving federal agents this year, with four of those incidents resulting in fatalities.

Out of the total shootings, it is reported that six individuals were shot by an ICE officer in 2026.
Arrest Data
The statistics reveal that ICE has made 262,768 arrests nationwide so far this year. In comparison, the previous year saw a total of 316,304 arrests. This year’s data indicates that 227,673 of these arrests resulted in detentions.
In Texas specifically, ICE conducted 63,697 arrests during the same period, with 52,375 of those leading to detentions.
In response to the data, a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a statement disputing the findings:
“This data is being cherry-picked by the Deportation Data Project to peddle a false narrative. The Deportation Data Project relies on information releases that have not been reviewed, audited, or given proper context. DHS and ICE have not verified the accuracy, methodology, or analysis of the project and its results. The bottom line is that the Deportation Data Project is not accurate.
“In President Trump’s first year back in office, more than 3 million illegal aliens have left the U.S. due to the administration’s strict immigration policies, including approximately 2.2 million self-deportations. As of September 7, we have deported nearly 1.1 million illegal aliens and arrested over 1.1 million illegal aliens.
“Being in detention is a choice. We encourage all illegal aliens to take control of their departure with the CBP Home App. The United States is offering illegal aliens $3,000 and a free flight to self-deport now. We urge every person here illegally to take advantage of this opportunity and reserve the chance to return to the U.S. the right way to pursue the American dream. If not, you will face arrest and deportation without a chance to return.”
