SAN ANTONIO – Recently, a shooting incident on the South Side of San Antonio has left the community shaken. Residents who once enjoyed a peaceful neighborhood reported that things have changed for the worse, with increased violence and drug-related activities becoming more common.

The shooting occurred around 9:30 a.m. on a Sunday, following an altercation outside a home on Gladstone Avenue. According to eyewitness accounts, two male suspects fled the scene, and police are currently searching for them. Unfortunately, specific details about the suspects or the victim have not yet been released.

Carlos, a neighbor, expressed his frustrations about the rising activity in the area. “It used to be a real quiet neighborhood, but lately, there’s been a lot of activity,” he said. He reported the situation to local police, who acknowledged that they were aware of increased drug activity in the 100 block of the street.

Another resident, Angie, recalled the chaotic scene when the shooting took place. “Here comes a policeman and the man was hollering and screaming, and the lady was hollerin’ and screaming, and he was holdin’ on to his arm,” she described. She also mentioned the presence of a patrol officer in the area, suggesting that the residents of the home where the shooting occurred might be linked to the increased police activity.

Emma, another neighbor, shared her experiences with the victim, describing him as a kind person who always offered to help her with groceries and trash. “He sees me and said, ‘Wait a minute, I’m gonna go help you get your groceries inside,’” she recalled fondly.

However, the overall sentiment among residents seems to be one of concern. Angie noted that she hears gunshots “at least once every other week,” illustrating the ongoing issues plaguing the neighborhood.

As the investigation continues, residents hope for a return to the peaceful community they once knew. The San Antonio Police Department is actively working to address these rising concerns and ensure the safety of its citizens.
