SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio police have reported an unusual incident involving a man with a fake gun who was arrested after an assault at a gas station near downtown.
The event occurred around 9 p.m. on Sunday in the 2100 block of South Laredo Street, close to South Brazos Street. Police arrived on the scene following a call about an assault in progress.
According to the police report, the suspect approached a victim at the gas station. There seemed to be a language barrier between them, which may have escalated the situation.
In a shocking turn of events, the suspect used a fake gun to pistol-whip the victim on the back of the head. This violent act caused the victim to flee to a nearby restaurant, but unfortunately, he collapsed on the ground shortly after.
The suspect attempted to rob the victim but fled the scene shortly after. However, in a twist of fate, he later returned to the area and tried to escape into a nearby creek.
Thanks to the quick response from the San Antonio Police Department’s EAGLE helicopter unit, the suspect was apprehended shortly after his return. This incident highlights the importance of swift police action in ensuring public safety.
