SAN ANTONIO – A tragic incident occurred on Sunday morning when a man was arrested for intoxication manslaughter after crashing his vehicle into a concrete pillar, resulting in the death of his passenger.

The accident took place around 2:10 a.m. in the 4600 block of westbound Loop 1604, a busy area known for its heavy traffic. Joseph Willis, 22, was reportedly driving at high speeds when he lost control of his vehicle, leading to the crash.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, the impact was severe, causing fatal injuries to his passenger, Virror Tes, also 22, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Willis was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained during the crash. Following his release, he was booked on charges of intoxication manslaughter and is currently being held on a $150,000 bond, based on records from Bexar County jail.

This tragic event serves as a reminder of the dangers of impaired driving, especially for young adults. Organizations like MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) emphasize the importance of making safe choices, particularly when it comes to alcohol consumption and driving.

It’s crucial for everyone to understand the serious consequences that can arise from such reckless behavior. If you or someone you know is planning to drink, always consider alternative transportation options or designate a sober driver.

For more information on safe driving practices and the impact of drunk driving, you can visit the MADD website or contact local authorities for resources and assistance.
