BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A significant incident occurred recently in Bexar County that has raised concerns about the safety of minors. A man named Jared Ortiz, who is 30 years old, faces serious charges for allegedly harboring a missing juvenile at his home in the west part of the county.
On Wednesday, Ortiz was taken into custody by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities had been investigating a residence located near Potranco Road, between Grosenbacher Road and West Loop 1604 North, due to suspicions that the missing juvenile was staying there with him.
The investigation began when deputies were informed by a relative of Ortiz, who mentioned that they hadn’t seen him in a few days. This relative guided the deputies to a house situated at the back of the property, where they believed Ortiz and the juvenile might be located.
When the deputies approached the house and knocked on the door, Ortiz came out, closing the door behind him. Deputies informed him that they had received reports indicating the juvenile was inside and inquired whether she was there. Ortiz denied her presence, but when a deputy called out the missing girl’s name, she responded from inside, confirming her identity.
As a result of this incident, Jared Ortiz has been booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center, and his bond has been set at $5,000. This situation highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to ensure the safety and well-being of children in the community.
Authorities encourage anyone with information about missing juveniles or suspicious activity to report it immediately. Keeping our communities safe is a shared responsibility.
