SAN ANTONIO – A shocking discovery was made in San Antonio when firefighters found a burning body in a ditch on the Southeast Side. The authorities reported that the body was bound and wrapped in various materials, including a shower curtain.
The firefighters arrived at the scene just after 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, initially responding to what they believed was a grass fire in an area surrounded by brush along Rigsby Avenue, near Roland Road.
A woman who passed by with her family noticed the flames and thought it was just a fire. After making a U-turn, they called 911 to report it. “(The fire) looked like it was going on for a bit,” she mentioned, expecting it to be a routine report.
However, the situation took a dark turn when homicide detectives visited her home later, revealing they had stumbled upon a murder scene. The police report noted that the body had its hands bound and was wrapped in a jacket and a shower curtain.
Investigators discovered multiple ropes and a plastic tote nearby, raising further questions about the circumstances surrounding the man’s death. “My husband got chills actually down his spine and his arms,” the woman recounted, expressing her shock.
Her family was left shaken, haunted by the question of who could commit such an act. Investigators are also intensely searching for answers as they work to identify the victim. Unfortunately, the damage caused by the fire may delay their efforts.
As the investigation unfolds, the community is left in disbelief. This incident serves as a chilling reminder of the darker side of humanity and the importance of staying vigilant in our surroundings.
The body of a man was found at this spot off Rigsby Avenue by firefighters who’d been called to put out a grass fire. The area is down a hill from the street, surrounded by brush.
