SAN ANTONIO – A tragic incident occurred last month on the Northwest Side of San Antonio, where a woman was run over by an SUV. The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has since classified her death as a homicide.

On Wednesday, the victim was identified as Grace Nichole Rodriguez, 37 years old. According to the medical examiner’s report, she succumbed to blunt force injuries sustained in the crash that took place on September 28.

The driver of the SUV involved in the incident, Dionisiah Edwards-Carpeal, 36, was apprehended shortly after the accident in the Medical Center area. She now faces serious charges, including murder and aggravated assault.

According to the San Antonio police, officers were initially dispatched to a fight reported in the 9700 block of Datapoint Drive. Upon arrival, they learned that an SUV had struck someone.

A preliminary report from the San Antonio Police Department stated that witnesses at the scene were separated, and two individuals had sustained injuries. Edwards-Carpeal fled the scene before police could arrive.

Rodriguez was discovered in critical condition in a parking lot and was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead approximately 15 minutes later.

Additionally, a 39-year-old man was also injured in the incident, as he too was struck by Edwards-Carpeal. Investigators found that Edwards-Carpeal had a previous romantic relationship with this man.

The police report indicated that Edwards-Carpeal followed Rodriguez and the man after they left a nearby restaurant and began arguing with them from her vehicle. Witnesses reported that she insulted Rodriguez before deliberately driving her SUV at the pair.

As of now, the police have not provided updates regarding the man’s injuries from the incident.
