LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua is currently questionable to participate in the upcoming Monday night matchup against the New York Giants due to a groin injury. Coach Sean McVay has confirmed that Nacua did not practice on Saturday, marking his second consecutive day sidelined.

The injury is unrelated to a core muscle injury that Nacua sustained during a joint practice with the Dallas Cowboys back in August. “This is a different thing,” McVay explained, emphasizing that the coaching staff has been cautious with Nacua’s condition. He had a productive practice earlier in the week, but he felt some soreness that prevented him from performing at full speed.

In the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers, Nacua caught five passes for 74 yards, showcasing his potential as a key player for the Rams. Last season, he achieved remarkable statistics, recording 129 receptions for 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns, establishing himself as a pivotal figure in the Rams’ offense.

Compounding the Rams’ injury woes, Nacua’s backup, Jordan Whittington, is also doubtful for the game due to a quad injury. This situation raises concerns for the Rams (0-1), as they may be missing two crucial run-blocking wide receivers. If Nacua and Whittington are unable to play, the Rams will likely turn to undersized speedsters Xavier Smith and Tutu Atwell to fill the void.

On a positive note, McVay confirmed that three-time AP Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald will be participating in the game after he recently returned from retirement. Donald expressed his eagerness to face the Giants (1-0) after spending the last two seasons away from football.

“He said it, he’s going,” McVay remarked, demonstrating his support for Donald’s decision to return to the field. As the Rams prepare for this crucial game, the impact of Nacua’s potential absence alongside Donald’s return will undoubtedly shape the team’s strategy against the Giants.
