SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio man was arrested after leading Wilson County deputies on a chase and barricading himself inside a home for several hours before surrendering Tuesday.

In a news release, the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office reported that a deputy initially pulled over a driver, identified as 24-year-old Joe Anthony Galvan, for running a stop sign. This seemingly minor traffic violation escalated quickly into a much larger situation.

When deputies attempted to confirm Galvan’s identity, he provided a fake name, which raised suspicions. According to the release, Galvan then decided to flee, leading deputies on a reckless chase towards San Antonio. The pursuit ended near the intersection of Interstate 35 and Cesar Chavez Boulevard.

After the chase, investigators were able to track down the owner of the vehicle and pinpoint its location to a specific address in San Antonio. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, Galvan refused to exit the home, prompting several hours of negotiations. Eventually, he surrendered peacefully, avoiding any further escalation of the situation.

According to the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office, Galvan now faces multiple charges, including evading arrest with a motor vehicle, failure to identify himself, and deadly conduct. Additionally, he had outstanding warrants from other counties for serious offenses, including intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury and aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of making responsible choices, especially when it comes to driving. Reckless behavior can lead to dangerous situations not only for the individual involved but also for others on the road.
