UNIVERSAL CITY, Texas – The Universal City Police Department recently held a news conference to share some important updates about a cold-case murder arrest and an innovative robot patrol project aimed at improving community accessibility.

In a significant breakthrough, investigators announced the arrest of Kelly Lee Brower Sr., 68, for the 1981 murder of Yolanda Herrera. This is a case that has haunted the community for over four decades. Authorities revealed that Brower was linked to the crime through a DNA match while he was already being held for an unrelated charge.

This development has brought a sense of closure to many, as cold cases like this can often leave families without answers for years. The use of modern DNA technology highlights how advancements in forensic science can help solve old crimes and bring justice to victims and their families.

In addition to the arrest, Universal City officials introduced an exciting new project involving robot patrols. These small robots will be deployed to gather important data about sidewalk accessibility for people with disabilities. The goal is to create a detailed “ground truth record” of the pedestrian infrastructure in the city.

This initiative reflects a commitment to inclusivity and ensuring that all citizens can navigate their community safely and easily. While a specific launch date for the robot patrol project has not yet been announced, officials have promised to provide more updates in the coming weeks.
