SAN ANTONIO – Just after midnight on Tuesday, Sarah St. John experienced a frightening moment that no one should have to endure. While relaxing in her bed and watching videos, the tranquility of her Northwest Side apartment was shattered by the sound of gunfire.

“I decided to stand up because I was, like, ‘Those sounded very close,’ and to check the apartment to see if any of the bullets went through my apartment — just in case,” she explained. Sarah described the sound as resembling gunshots from a semi-automatic weapon, estimating it to be a series of at least ten rounds.

According to the San Antonio police, the shots came from three individuals who were involved in a violent incident outside the Woodhill Apartments, located on Woodstone Drive near Interstate 10.

Officers arrived shortly after the gunfire was reported, only to find two 18-year-old men with gunshot wounds. Tragically, one of the victims was pronounced dead at a local hospital, while the other was treated for a gunshot wound to his ankle.

Witnesses reported that the two victims were outside when a Toyota 4Runner pulled up. Three men exited the vehicle and opened fire before fleeing the scene in the stolen SUV, which police later found abandoned.

As of now, police have not been able to locate the suspects involved in this alarming incident, leaving St. John and her neighbors concerned about their safety.

“This is my apartment. This is my home. What do I do in this situation?” St. John pondered. She emphasized the importance of creating a safe environment, stating, “I’m trying to better myself. Some of these families are trying to better themselves, and they can’t do that if we have gunshots.”

As of Tuesday afternoon, the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office is still working to identify the deceased victim. The community remains on edge, hoping for swift action from law enforcement to ensure their safety.
