SAN ANTONIO – A serious traffic incident on Saturday afternoon left two children injured, prompting a response from the San Antonio Police Department. The crash occurred on northbound U.S. Highway 281 near Bitters Road, resulting in the closure of the highway as authorities worked to assess the situation.
According to police reports, a vehicle traveling on the frontage road entered the highway and collided with a black pickup truck. The impact caused the truck to spin, subsequently leading to a secondary collision with another vehicle. This chain reaction resulted in the pickup truck rolling over, which tragically ejected two children from the vehicle.

Reports indicate that a 15-year-old sustained a broken ankle, while an 11-year-old was transported to the hospital with initially life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, medical updates reveal that the 11-year-old’s condition has since improved and is no longer considered life-threatening.
In addition to the children, the driver of the pickup truck was also taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, highlighting the severity of the accident.

The driver of the vehicle that initiated the collision remained on the scene and is cooperating with investigations, according to the San Antonio Police Department. As a result of the incident, authorities closed the highway, with expectations that it would remain blocked until approximately 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
