SAN ANTONIO – Recently, three teenagers from San Antonio made headlines after being indicted for a series of alarming robberies. These incidents, which occurred at a Circle K convenience store near Stevens High School, involved violent confrontations with fellow students.
The first robbery took place on May 4, when a 17-year-old student, who had stepped off campus during his lunch break, was confronted by the suspects. Among them was a person the victim identified as a “close friend,” Zertuche. Holding a firearm, Zertuche demanded the victim’s belongings, leading to a physical assault involving Saenz, who struck the victim with the gun.
Details of the May 4 Incident
As the victim was approached, Zertuche allegedly told him, “I’ma need your bag. Give me everything.” The victim’s attempts to resist were met with violence, as Saenz hit him in the face and the suspects rummaged through his belongings. They made off with his gold chain, ring, sunglasses, phone charger, and wallet while Notario kept watch.
The victim reported the crime after returning to school, and the police acted swiftly, leading to the indictment of Saenz and Zertuche on multiple counts, including aggravated robbery and aggravated assault. Notario faced similar charges but with a lesser indictment.
The May 18 Incident
Just two weeks later, on May 18, another robbery occurred at the same Circle K, where the suspects confronted a different student. Notario reportedly initiated the confrontation by taunting the victim. As the victim realized the threat, he saw one of the suspects brandishing a firearm.
The situation escalated when the victim was pistol-whipped, resulting in visible injuries. Fortunately, he managed to return to school and report the incident, prompting another police investigation.
The authorities quickly located the suspects, leading to their arrest. They faced further charges for their actions during the May 18 incident, adding to their growing list of legal troubles.
Previous Robberies and Legal Consequences
Interestingly, Zertuche was also implicated in robberies at two malls just days before the May 18 incident. He reportedly assaulted a victim at the North Star Mall, forcefully taking a necklace and brandishing a firearm. Following his arrest, he confessed to these robberies, leading to additional indictments.
Currently, all three suspects are facing serious charges, including aggravated robbery and organized criminal activity, with their combined bond set at an impressive $625,000. As they await their court appearances, the community watches closely, hoping for justice for the victims.
