MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy has emphasized the importance of monitoring pitcher Jacob Misiorowski’s workload as the team emerges from the All-Star break. This caution comes after Misiorowski experienced arm fatigue, prompting the Brewers to skip his scheduled start on July 12.

In his first outing since that break, Misiorowski pitched four innings in an 8-3 victory over the New York Mets. This performance was notable, especially since it followed a seven-inning outing against St. Louis on July 7. Murphy explained that the decision to limit Misiorowski’s innings was not solely due to caution but rather an assessment of his overall readiness.

“We would have probably let him go further if his delivery and his legs felt great,” Murphy noted post-game. “He was a little bit out of it. The long layoff kind of affected his delivery and everything else.” Misiorowski’s velocity, which saw him hit a top speed of 104 mph, was impacted, and he struggled to maintain rhythm during the game.

Misiorowski himself acknowledged the difficulties of pitching after an extended break. “I felt like I wasn’t in my legs as well as I should have been,” he admitted, though he still managed to strike out six batters while allowing only one unearned run.

As a key member of the Brewers’ roster, Misiorowski’s health is crucial, especially since he is navigating his first full season in Major League Baseball (MLB). This season, he has already pitched 115 innings, which is significant considering he logged 141 1/3 innings last year, including postseason appearances.

Currently, the Brewers hold the best record in MLB at 63-37, leading the Chicago Cubs by seven games in the NL Central. Misiorowski’s impressive statistics, including a 0.87 ERA and a 9-2 record in his last 13 starts, have made him a standout player, further solidifying the team’s chances for a deep postseason run.

Looking ahead, Misiorowski expressed optimism about increasing his pitch count in his next outing. He emphasized that he had prepared during the offseason to handle the greater workload anticipated this season. “I feel good where I’m at. Ready to go,” he stated confidently.
