SAN ANTONIO – A recent father-son trip to San Antonio took a dangerous turn when two New York Knicks fans reported being attacked outside their hotel. This incident occurred during the NBA Finals weekend, specifically around June 13, right after they had attended Game 5 between the Spurs and the Knicks.
While returning to their hotel located near N. St. Mary’s and E. Houston streets, the pair was unexpectedly confronted. According to the son, they were blindsided by a group of individuals who began to punch them. “People came from back and started punching us,” he explained. “My dad went down first. I don’t know if he was punched and fell or if he was pushed down and hit his head on the ground, but that’s where the main injury came from.”
The San Antonio Police Department is currently investigating the attack and seeks the public’s assistance in identifying the attackers. Security footage from outside the hotel captured images of at least two men involved in the incident, and police are hoping someone will recognize them.
One of the images shows the back of a man with a noticeable tattoo on his arm. Investigators believe that details about the man’s build or tattoo could lead to crucial information regarding the assault. The son expressed a desire for justice, saying, “I want accountability for them,” and emphasized the importance of thinking before acting in such situations.
In addition to identifying the suspects, police are searching for a vehicle linked to the attack. They are looking for a newer-model red, four-door Chevy truck that may be a Silverado or Trail Boss, featuring upgraded trim and black side steps.
If you have any information about the men or the vehicle involved in this case, you are encouraged to contact the San Antonio Police Department at 210-207-2374. As of now, it’s unclear whether a Crime Stoppers reward will be offered.
