Today marks the first day of summer with the arrival of the summer solstice. This astronomical event occurs when the Sun reaches its highest position in the sky, leading to the longest daylight hours of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. From this point onward, evenings will gradually begin to shorten, signaling the transition into the warmest months.

Looking ahead, the week will progressively become hotter and mostly dry as an upper-level ridge strengthens over South Central Texas. Daily high temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 90s, with nighttime lows settling in the low to mid-70s. As a result, heat index values may approach or exceed triple digits at times, underscoring the need for precautions against heat-related illnesses.
