BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – In anticipation of Game 5 of the NBA Finals taking place at the Frost Bank Center, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar has announced an increase in security measures. This decision follows the successful deployment of deputies during the first two games of the Finals, demonstrating the sheriff’s commitment to ensuring a safe environment for all attendees.
Sheriff Salazar stated, “As opposed to the number of deputies we had there (Frost Bank Center) last week, we’ve absolutely got a lot more deputies working there this week.” This proactive approach reflects the sheriff’s dedication to public safety during high-profile events, ensuring that fans can enjoy the game without concern.
In addition to an increased presence at the arena, deputies will be responsible for escorting players from the New York Knicks to the Frost Bank Center and back to their accommodations. This measure aims to provide extra security and peace of mind for the athletes during their stay.
Sheriff Salazar emphasized the importance of protecting not only the local San Antonio Spurs but also any visiting teams, stating, “We are going to take care of our Spurs; we are going to take care of any opposing teams that come.” This inclusive approach to security enhances the experience for all teams involved and fosters a spirit of sportsmanship.
Fans attending Game 5 can expect to see a heightened number of deputies in and around the arena, a move that aligns with best practices in event security. “We are hoping for the best, but we’re prepared for the worst,” Salazar added, highlighting the sheriff’s experience and expertise in managing large gatherings while prioritizing safety.
