BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A shocking incident unfolded recently in Bexar County, where a man was arrested for allegedly sharing child sexual abuse material with a stranger. This case has raised serious concerns and prompted local authorities to believe that there may be more victims involved.

The suspect, identified as Gerardo Fabian Hernandez, 30, was taken into custody on charges related to the possession and promotion of child pornography. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar commented that the case is “extremely weird,” highlighting the unusual circumstances surrounding it.

The situation began on April 22 when a man contacted the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office after receiving disturbing text messages that contained explicit content involving minors from an unknown number. The caller soon realized that the messages were from a man he had just met that day, who had run out of gas and borrowed money for fuel.

Sheriff Salazar explained that the suspect had promised to reimburse the caller for the gas money, which led to the exchange of phone numbers. After conducting an investigation that lasted several days, the sheriff’s office was able to trace the phone number back to Hernandez.

Authorities discovered that at least three victims were identified in the explicit material. According to Sheriff Salazar, two of these victims are still minors, while a third, who was believed to be a minor during the recording of the videos, may now be a young adult.

The investigation has led to concerns that Hernandez may have been looking for places to stay where he could gain access to children. Sheriff Salazar emphasized the importance of vigilance and awareness in the community, suggesting that there could be additional victims who have not yet come forward.

If you or someone you know may have been a victim or have any information regarding Hernandez, you are encouraged to reach out to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office at 210-335-6000 or via email at TIPS@bexar.org. It’s crucial for the community to work together to prevent such incidents and protect the vulnerable.
