SAN ANTONIO – A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday morning when the San Antonio Fire Department confirmed the recovery of a man’s body from the waters at J Street Park, situated along the Salado Creek Greenway near Pecan Valley Drive. This news has raised concerns about safety in local parks, particularly those near bodies of water.

Emergency responders received a call around 7 a.m. from a passerby who reported finding the man clinging to a tree branch in the creek. Upon arrival, fire officials were informed by a San Antonio Park Police officer that the individual had ceased communication, indicating a potential drowning.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office is currently tasked with identifying the deceased and determining the cause and manner of death. This incident adds to the ongoing conversation about water safety, especially as the region experiences fluctuating weather conditions.

In a related note, the San Antonio Fire Department reported that between 11 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday morning, they responded to 24 water rescue calls. These incidents included a notable rescue of two individuals trapped in a vehicle on Pinn Road, which required the use of a ladder truck.

As local authorities continue to monitor the situation, it is crucial for residents and visitors to exercise caution around water bodies. The community is urged to stay informed about safety guidelines and to report any emergencies promptly.

This is a developing story. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
