SAN ANTONIO – A woman was arrested for intoxication assault and injury to a child after a crash on the West Side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
The crash occurred around 3 p.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Cupples Road. Police reported that a witness noticed a vehicle swerving out of its lane while heading northbound on Cupples Road, just after it exited U.S. Highway 90.
This troubling incident involved three children, aged 8, 7, and 5, who were reportedly unrestrained in the back seat during the drive. The vehicle eventually crashed into a cement barrier and a fence belonging to a private property.
As a result of the crash, two of the children suffered bodily injuries, while the third child incurred serious bodily injury. All three were promptly transported to a hospital for urgent medical attention. The police have yet to disclose which child sustained the more severe injuries.
The 29-year-old woman driving the vehicle has been arrested on charges of intoxication assault and injury to a child, as reported by the San Antonio Police Department.
Authorities are currently continuing their investigation into the incident, emphasizing the importance of safety, especially when it comes to young passengers in vehicles.
