CHARLOTTE, N.C. – In a tense moment during the Miami Heat’s play-in game against the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday night, center Bam Adebayo was forced to exit the game after a hard fall. The incident occurred in the second quarter when Hornets point guard LaMelo Ball inadvertently tripped Adebayo while trying to recover from a missed layup.

As Ball drove to the basket but failed to convert his shot, he was on the ground when he appeared to swipe at Adebayo’s left foot. This unexpected contact caused Adebayo to fall backward, landing awkwardly on his lower back. The intensity of the play left fans and players alike concerned for Adebayo’s well-being.

Following the fall, Adebayo remained on the court as the game continued, drawing attention from the team’s training staff. After receiving medical attention, he managed to get to his feet and walked off under his own power, but the Heat later confirmed that he would not return to the game.

The play did not result in a foul against Ball, and since the action continued without interruption, it could not be reviewed. This incident raises questions about player safety and officiating in high-stakes games, especially during the critical playoff push.

Adebayo, who had an impressive performance last month scoring 83 points in a game, has been a pivotal player for the Heat this season. His absence could significantly impact the team’s performance as they vie for a playoff position.
