BEXAR COUNTY, Texas – A significant court ruling took place recently as a man was sentenced to 60 years in prison for the murder of a woman at a San Antonio hotel three years ago.

Albert Casanova, 43, was found guilty of killing 30-year-old Briann Hernandez, with the crime occurring in May 2020. The conviction was confirmed on March 27, following a thorough investigation by the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office.

The incident unfolded at the OYO Hotel located in the 2400 block of Southwest Loop 410. Surveillance footage showed Hernandez briefly standing outside their shared hotel room, where the tragic event took place. According to the court documents, Casanova shot Hernandez in the head and then fled the scene using her car.

The grim discovery of Hernandez’s body was made by a hotel employee who was performing routine check-out procedures. This shocking act of violence has sparked discussions about safety and accountability in public spaces.

“This was a calculated and senseless act of violence,” said Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales in a news release. “Today’s sentence ensures the defendant is held accountable for taking a life and reinforces our commitment to justice.”

Such cases remind us of the importance of community safety and the need for vigilance. The justice system’s response in this instance serves as a cautionary tale about the consequences of violent actions and the ongoing efforts to ensure justice for victims and their families.
