NEW YORK – Michigan’s legendary “Fab Five” will make a highly anticipated reunion during this Saturday’s Final Four matchup. The iconic group, consisting of Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King, and Ray Jackson, will participate in an alternate broadcast on truTV and HBO Max as the Wolverines face Arizona in the second national semifinal. The victor of this game will earn the chance to compete for the championship title against either Connecticut or Illinois on Monday night.

“It’s going to be great, and we’re excited about it,” King said in a recent telephone interview. “It’s a symbol of our support of the University of Michigan, especially because our team is doing so well in the tournament. The team has looked good all season, being dominant and setting records, and the way they’re doing it has been fun to watch.”

“We want to just come together and be fans of guys on the cusp of doing something historical,” he added, emphasizing the shared excitement among the Fab Five members as they witness the current team’s success.

For viewers seeking a traditional broadcast experience, the game will also air on TBS, TNT, and HBO Max, ensuring fans have multiple ways to engage with the thrilling matchup.

The Fab Five, who made waves in college basketball during the early 1990s, have reunited only a handful of times since their groundbreaking days at Michigan. They were pivotal in leading the Wolverines to the Final Four in both 1992 and 1993. In recent years, Rose and Webber have contributed to TBS, TNT, and truTV’s studio coverage during the NCAA Tournament, continuing their legacy in the sport.

However, their relationship has not always been smooth sailing. The group faced estrangement for many years due to Webber’s connections with a Michigan booster, which led to a scandal resulting in the forfeiture of victories from Webber’s two seasons and the removal of Final Four banners. Additionally, the NCAA enforced a 10-year ban on Webber’s association with the Michigan program.

The healing process began after Juwan Howard was appointed as Michigan’s basketball coach in 2019. Under Howard’s leadership, the program experienced significant moments, yet he was let go two years ago, leaving a complex legacy for the Fab Five and the university.

As fans look forward to this thrilling reunion and the chance to see the Wolverines compete for a championship, the Fab Five remains a symbol of excellence and resilience in college basketball.
