SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) has made an exciting announcement regarding the future of the Sam Houston High School football program. On Wednesday, the district introduced Rashard Colquitt as the new head football coach and athletic coordinator for the school.
Colquitt, who most recently served as the offensive coordinator at Aldine Nimitz High School in the Greater Houston area, will be taking on his first head coaching position. His appointment marks a significant step in his 12-season coaching journey, which has included roles at various schools such as Coldspring, Nacogdoches, and Port Arthur before his tenure at Aldine.
In a news release, Colquitt expressed his enthusiasm for joining the San Antonio ISD family, stating, “I’m excited to be a part of the San Antonio ISD family. I look forward to building relationships with everyone in the Sam Houston community, as well as the other coaches in our district.” This sentiment reflects his commitment to fostering a positive environment both on and off the field.
Colquitt further emphasized his vision for the program, saying, “I am so proud to be named the head coach of the Sam Houston Hurricanes. My goal is to continue to build the program, not just a team, but a program that is successful year after year.” This focus on long-term success indicates his desire to create a sustainable and thriving football culture at Sam Houston High School.
Colquitt will officially start his new role on April 6, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the Hurricanes. As he embarks on this new chapter, the San Antonio community eagerly anticipates the impact he will make on the students and the football program.
