COMAL COUNTY, Texas – In a serious case that has shocked the local community, a former firefighter from San Antonio has been sentenced to four years in prison after being convicted of multiple counts of sexual assault involving a child. This sentencing took place after a Comal County jury found him guilty, highlighting the importance of safety and accountability in our communities.

The individual, identified as Dyba, will also face probation, although the specific conditions of this probation will be decided at a later hearing, according to officials. It’s important to note that Dyba’s sentences will run consecutively, meaning he will serve one sentence after another, which emphasizes the gravity of his actions.

Dyba was arrested in late 2024 following an investigation that revealed he had sexually assaulted a girl during late December 2022 and early January 2023. This case underlines the critical role that law enforcement and community vigilance play in protecting vulnerable individuals.

Following his arrest, city officials confirmed that Dyba had resigned from the San Antonio Fire Department in early September. Before his resignation, he was placed on administrative duty, which is a standard procedure in such serious allegations.

Dyba had been a part of the San Antonio Fire Department since 2017, serving the community in a role that is typically associated with trust and safety. The breach of this trust has raised concerns among residents, emphasizing the need for thorough background checks and ongoing training for public servants to ensure that they uphold the standards expected of them.

As this case continues to develop, it serves as a reminder of the importance of speaking out against abuse and the vital role that community support plays in the healing process for victims. Awareness and education are key in preventing such incidents and ensuring that justice is served.
